UG PG Ph.D Courses in Agronomy

Research :

Mandate: The centre is carrying work on two different themes. 1) Cropping System Research under farming system mode 2) Integrated Farming System The objectives for on-station and on-farm research are as follows:  To characterize existing farming systems to know the productivity, viability and constraints.  To develop and validate region-specific Integrated Farming System Models for enhanced system productivity, profitability and sustainability.  To assess relative efficiencies of the IFS model in terms of economics, resource use and energy.  To optimize individual components of IFS in regional perspective  Capacity building of stakeholders in Integrated Farming Systems through appropriate trainings

Extension :

OFR 1: On farm crop response to plant nutrients in predominant cropping system and their impact on crop-livestock-human chain. OFR 2: Diversification of existing farming systems under marginal household conditions. OFR 3: On farm evaluation of farming system modules for improving profitability and livelihood of small and marginal farmers. Schedule Caste Sub Plan On Farm Participatory Research in Farming System Perspective under SCSP Programme.

The flagship areas:

  • Integrated Farming System Research in different agro-ecologies of Sub-tropical foot hill, Semi-temperate mid-hill and Temperate/high-hill Himalayas.
  • Resource conservation and Carbon Sequestration
  • Organic Weed Management
  • Economically viable systems and farm employment generation.
